启闭设备的形式主要有卷扬式、液压式和螺杆式。从其工作的机理分析, 启闭设备属于起重机系列的机械, 具备起重机械的一般特点, 同时作为水利工程的配套设备,还具有以下特性：停机备用时间比较长, 具有短时运行的特点：运行时多为额定负荷, 负荷基本稳定；运行环境多为潮湿和多灰尘地点；必须满足随时投入运行的要求。
